Counseling Children

Our mental health professionals work with children who are struggling with a wide range of social, emotional, and behavioral issues. Often, a form of therapy called play therapy is used when working with children.

Play therapy uses a child’s natural means of expression, namely play, as a therapeutic method to assist him or her in coping with emotional stress or trauma. Play therapy is often used with children up to eight years of age, and when treating children with special needs.

Why Play Therapy?

Play therapy builds on the natural way children learn about themselves and the world around them.

Through play therapy, children learn to communicate with others, express feelings, modify behavior, develop problem solving skills, and learn different ways of relating to others in an age appropriate way.

Play therapy with a trained play therapist helps children overcome social, emotional, behavioral, and learning difficulties and achieve optimal growth and development.
